Review of Retail and Sales Qualifications

Ringa Hora Services Workforce Development Council has reviewed:

These were submitted to NZQA for evaluation July 2024.

We have engaged with the sector and obtained feedback to inform the review, and changes have been made to ensure they remain current and fit for purpose. The main changes proposed to the qualification/s as a result of the review are:

The last date of assessment for version 2 for the above qualifications is 31 December 2026.

New Zealand Certificate in Retail (Level 3)[2235]

Inclusion of ‘customer service skills’ into Outcome Statement to better align with GPO

New Zealand Certificate in Sales (Level 3) [2237]

GPO 4 conditions added using skills standard 40045.

Next steps

Ringa Hora will provide updates via webpage on any significant changes during the NZQA evaluation process (see below).

  • NZQA to assign to an evaluator
  • Evaluator sends Request for Information (RFI) to developer for feedback/changes on application
  • Developer will amend changes and send back to NZQA. This will be repeated until approved
    • Developer will keep working group informed in any significant changes
  • NZQA approve application and send outcome letter to WDC
  • WDC inform stakeholders of approval
  • NZQA list qualifications on framework.

Note: this this process can take 4-8 weeks.

Following sector and national consultation on the draft reviewed qualifications, an application was submitted to NZQA for evaluation and approval in July 2024. Once approved the new versions of the qualification(s) will be published on the New Zealand Qualifications and Credentials Framework (NZQCF).
