2024 Review of Intelligence Analysis Unit Standards and Development of Skill Standards

Updated 4 March 2025

Between August 2024- February 2025, Ringa Hora Services Workforce Development Council engaged with the Intelligence sector to work with a review panel that informed the development of skill standards to replace existing unit standards.

We are now pleased to report that the standards have been submitted to NZQA for evaluation. It will take 20 working days for the application to be picked up and assigned to an evaluator at NZQA and another 20 working days for the evaluation to be returned for more information.

Below is a list of the standards that were submitted to NZQA for approval and a table of how the standards were designed to meet the graduate profile outcomes of the reviewed Intelligence suite of qualifications:

The main changes proposed as a result of the review are:

  • Overall 16 skill standards were developed to replace the unit standards, and to align with the graduate profile outcomes in the reviewed Intelligence qualifications
  • Twenty unit standards were reviewed
  • Eleven unit standards will be replaced with skill standards
  • Nine unit standards have been set to expire and will not be replaced by a skill standard.

Please note that the unit standards that are being replaced by the skill standards will be given a 2 year expiration date for transitioning purposes.
