Ringa Hora Services Workforce Development Council is commencing a review of nine Hospitality qualifications in accommodation, food and beverage, and hospitality during June 2025, to ensure the qualifications are, and continue to be, useful and relevant to the sector. 

 

  Accommodation and Hotel Reception  
2103  New Zealand Certificate in Accommodation (Level 3) with strands in Housekeeping, Portering and Reception (40 credits)  
2111  New Zealand Certificate in Hotel Reception (Level 4) (60 credits) 
  Food and Beverage 
2104  New Zealand Certificate in Food and Beverage Service (Level 3) with strands in Café Services, Bar Services, Restaurant Services, Buffet Services, Functions Services, Barista, and Quick Service Restaurants Services (40 credits)  
2105  New Zealand Certificate in Food and Beverage Service (Level 4) with strands in Restaurant Services, and Quick Service Restaurants Services (60 credits)  
  Hospitality 
2108  New Zealand Certificate in Hospitality (Level 2) (40 credits)  
4366  New Zealand Certificate in Hospitality (Level 3) (60 credits)  
2109  New Zealand Certificate in Hospitality (Advanced) (Level 5) with strands in Accommodation, Food and Beverage Service, Catering Services, and Quick Service Restaurant Services (60 credits) 
2539  New Zealand Diploma in Hospitality Management (Level 5) (120 credits)  
2540  New Zealand Diploma in Hospitality Management (Level 6) (120 credits)

We invite industry professionals, educators, and stakeholders to participate in this review process. Your insights are invaluable in shaping qualifications that truly serve the sector. 

If you’re interested in being part of the review process, please submit your Expression of Interest identifying how you want to be involved by Friday 20 June 2025.

We are interested in receiving your input on the current qualifications, and how useful and relevant they are for the sector. Please share your feedback through our feedback form or emailing [email protected]. 

Timing 

We propose the review to take place between June and September and be conducted using a variety of methods. This may include face to face and/or online meetings, individual interviews (face to face and online), workshops and email consultation. 

It is anticipated that national consultation will occur during September with submission to NZQA for approval thereafter.
