Background
Ringa Hora Services Workforce Development Council has been working with sector technical experts in 2025 to review nine Hospitality qualifications in accommodation, food and beverage, and hospitality. The goal is to ensure the qualifications remain relevant, useful and responsive to the evolving needs of the sector.
We invited industry professionals, educators, and stakeholders to participate in this review process. Your insights are invaluable in shaping qualifications that truly support learners and meet workforce demands.
Ringa Hora prepared for the review of nine hospitality qualifications, gathering and considering pre-review feedback and data, attending consistency review events for some of the qualifications being reviewed, and seeking expressions of interest from the sector to be involved in the review process (closed 30 June 2025).

The review is taking place between July and September, conducted using a variety of methods. This may include face to face and/or online meetings, individual interviews (face to face and online), workshops and email consultation.
During August and September Ringa Hora has convened four expert working groups to undertake the review of the qualifications.

We are nearing the completion of the review process, and we will be consulting on the reviewed qualifications.
National consultation occurred during September and early October, with submission to NZQA for approval shortly thereafter.
