Quality Assurance Industry Summary 2024

Standards for security and liquor licencing continue to be the most-used standards assessed by the Quality Assurance team at Ringa Hora Services Workforce Development Council.

The popularity of these standards is highlighted in the Ringa Hora Quality Assurance Industry Summary 2024, which provides high-level summaries of activities undertaken by the Quality Assurance team in the past year.

The document outlines the amount of programme endorsements and consent to assess applications received across the 10 industry groupings covered by Ringa Hora, along with the volume of pre-moderation and post-moderation activities completed in 2024.

As the document says, Ringa Hora has quality assurance responsibility for about 1700 standards across the Service sector. Ringa Hora uses a risk-based approach to determine its moderation focus, including the frequency a provider is monitored, and the standards called for moderation.

“Data from NZQA indicates that the sectors with the highest use during 2024 continue to be Security (Certificate of Approval unit standards) and Hospitality (Licence Controller Qualification unit standards),” the summary says.

Ringa Hora increased its focus on relationship building via on-site visits in 2024 and plans to continue this moderation approach in 2025. More detail about quality assurance activities for 2025 can be found here.
