Ringa Hora Services Workforce Development Council has reviewed unit standards in four domains on the Directory of Assessment and Skill Standards (DASS). We have also commenced development of skill standards to support new qualifications.
Ringa Hora has submitted the unit standards to NZQA for approval, access the drop-down menus to review the amendments that were submitted.
The purpose of the review is to ensure the unit standards continue to be useful and relevant to the sector and that the new skill standards will also support qualification, and credentials.
Standards proposed to be expired due to no usage or less than 10 awarded since at least 2023. Last date of assessment of these standards will be 31 December 2028.
Reviewed standard
Unit Standard 18509 was reviewed due to high usage.
Changes include:
Unit standards developed towards New Zealand Diploma in Business (Level 5) [Ref: 2459] to be replaced with new skill standards. Skill standards are in development.
These standards will be set to expire with a last date of assessment of 31 December 2028 to allow transition time for education organisations.
Standards to expire due to no usage and declining usage
Unit Standards developed towards the New Zealand Certificate in Business (Introduction to Team Leadership) and the New Zealand Certificate in Business (First Line Management) being replaced by skill standards.
The unit standards will have a last date of assessment of 31 December 2028 to allow transition time for education organisations. Skill standards have been developed to link to the qualifications the New Zealand Certificate in Leadership (Level 3) [Ref: 5304] and the New Zealand Certificate in Leadership (Level 4) [Ref: 5306].

The review took place between July to review the unit standards within the four domains. Consent to assess holders were contacted via email for their feedback and invited to participate in the review. These units standards with the above changes will be submitted to NZQA.
Ringa Hora is still conducting skill standard development with established Working Groups.

Ringa Hora has completed an analysis that has informed our approaches to review domains with unit standards planned review date of 31 December 2025. Ringa Hora acknowledges as the New Zealand Certificates and Diplomas in Business Level 3 – Level 6 were reviewed in 2024 – 2025, there are standards that support programmes leading to qualifications in this suite that will not be reviewed. Instead, these units will remain on their existing planned review date and transitioned to the Industry Skills Boards (ISBs).
