Building Inclusive Workplaces: Micro-credential in development

National consultation is open — closes 30 September 2025

We’re seeking feedback on the draft Inclusive Human Resource Management Practice of Disabled peoples and Tāngata Whaikaha micro-credential (Level 5, 20 credits).  

This credential is designed for HR practitioners, people leaders, DEI professionals, recruiters, and business operations leaders who want to embed equity and accessibility in their organizations. 

Your insights will help refine the final content before submission to NZQA for listing and approval in early October.

What we’re asking you to review

  • Is the purpose clear and relevant to your context?
  • Are the learning outcomes clear, measurable, and appropriate for Level 5?
  • Is the component weighting (5/4/4/3/4 credits) correct?
  • Are delivery and assessment modes workable across providers/employers?
  • Is the terminology appropriate (e.g., Disabled peoples, tāngata whaikaha)?
  • Anything missing that would improve accessibility or employer uptake? 

Why this micro-credential matters 

Across Aotearoa, disabled peoples/tāngata whaikaha face persistent barriers to employment. This micro-credential responds to strategic priorities set by Whaikaha – Ministry of Disabled People, and supports the development of a culturally responsive, disability-confident workforce.
