Ringa Hora is proposing to defer the review of two Travel qualifications and to revise the Travel unit standards this year.
The New Zealand Certificate in Travel (Level 4) [Ref: 2204] and the New Zealand Certificate in Travel (Level 5) [Ref: 2205] are due for review in February 2026. We propose to have the next planned review for these qualifications extended from February 2026 to February 2027.
The 56 unit standards in the Travel domain are due for review December 2025. We propose a revision of the current unit standards rather than a full review at this time. It is anticipated that new skill standards would need to be developed to replace these unit standards during the next full review to align with the reviewed qualifications.
Revision of unit standards is typically for two years and enables corrections of any identified problems in the current unit standards, and we welcome feedback to inform this.
This proposal would allow the new Industry Skills Board (ISB) that is replacing the Workforce Development Council to be established and set its priorities for review and development projects, but essentially it would mean the review of the Travel qualifications and development of new travel skill standards could begin once the ISB is established in 2026.
Any comments or feedback on this proposal are welcome. Contact us on [email protected]. We look forward to hearing from you by Wednesday, 9 July 2025.
