2025 Business Events Credentials Consultation

We want to hear from you

Ringa Hora Services Workforce Development Council has been working with Business Events Industry Aotearoa (BEIA) and the business events sector to develop new credentials that respond to contemporary needs for the business events sector, and we want to hear your thoughts by 4 August 2025.

Attracting talent is crucial for growing the business events sector. Your feedback is important to the success of our development work. We want to hear from you about how well the skills, knowledge and attributes specified in the credentials reflect what you believe is required for an emerging business events professional.

Get involved and have your say

We invite your feedback on and support for the draft new credentials designed to equip people with the skills and knowledge to professionally contribute to planning, project management, and delivery of business events in Aotearoa New Zealand.

The new credentials are listed below:

Draft Business events qualification

NZ Certificate in Emerging Business Events Professional (Level 4) (60 credits)

This qualification is intended to provide the business events industry with individuals who can professionally contribute to planning, project management and delivery of business events in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Draft Business events Skill standards

These skill standards have been developed as the building blocks for use in programmes aligned with the qualification. We want to hear from you about how well the skills, knowledge and attributes specified in the skill standards reflect what you believe is required for an emerging business events professional.

  • BE1– Provide an overview of the business events sector, its structure, roles and planning (Level 3, 5 credits)
  • BE2– Contribute to the development of effective systems, processes and procedures that support event coordination (Level 4, 10 credits)
  • BE3– Prepare a plan to support a business event (Level 4, 10 credits)

Provide feedback

We are interested in feedback on both the qualification and skills standards. Please keep in mind the following questions:

  1. Qualification – Are the purpose and graduate outcomes adequate and appropriate – and do the four outcomes capture what a graduate would be expected to know and do?  Are the proposed employment (job roles) and education pathways appropriate, and do they accurately reflect what a graduate of the qualification could do?
  2. Skill standards – how well do the skills, knowledge and attributes specified in the skill standards reflect what you believe is required for an emerging business events professional.

Please complete the feedback form or email your feedback to [email protected], attention Diana Garrett, by Monday 4 August 2025.

Thank you in advance for your interest in and contribution to the development of the business events qualification and standards.
