Kihi Ririnui, aka Miss Kihi, is an award-winning broadcaster, entertainer and actor, as well as a social justice campaigner, youth advocate and promoter of te Reo Māori. Miss Kihi began her broadcasting career in iwi radio before moving into television as the presenter of Māori Television’s youth-focused political show Ārero. In 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006 Miss Kihi won Best Nationwide Rangatahi Show of the Year at the Māori Media Awards. Since then, her broadcasting skills and comic ability have seen her appear across a broad range of genres and programming. In 2013 Miss Kihi became a social media sensation for her ‘Panda Eyes’ segment on Māori Television’s 50 Haka Moments. Her unique combination of talents has seen Miss Kihi become one of te ao Māori’s most in-demand entertainers, featuring on #HAKANATION, Game of Bros S3, TVNZ’s Breakfast Club, Fresh TV, Coconet, Three’s R&R, OiA: Only In Aotearoa Sketch Comedy. Her courageous approach and fearless nature led her to host numerous livestream events, radio broadcasts and also feature on many other shows to date, including the biggest gig of the century in the world of Maoridom – Te Matatini Kapahaka Festival 2023 where she took the stage with ruff regal approach and a subtle yet elegant style of Native Divinity as one of the MC hosts; tu tira mai nga iwi, tatau tatou e.

When she isn’t in front of the camera Miss Kihi remains a committed residential Native Diva where she is passionate, dedicated and devoted as a true member to her culture and as a social campaigner in the widespread communities. Miss Kihi is a self-appointed promoter who markets her brand through the many platforms of social media. She quotes ‘Edutainment is key’, which makes every moment memorable forever. As a young mother of two sons Miss Kihi is passionate about rangatahi in her tribal rohe from the Te Rawhiti in the Far North to the plentiful waters Tauranga Moana. She now resides in the north, where she has been privileged to serve across the moana in the Bay of Islands as a Tour Guide & Deckhand for one of the leading national marine companies in the region. She has worked in Kura Kaupapa Maori (total immersion) and Mainstream Schools as Youth Mentor/coordinator. Social Services is a natural alignment as she found this work to be emotional, connected and fulfilling in order to bring whanau back together. Miss Kihi is a lifelong member and promoter of te reo Māori, of which she strives to create a natural and effortless way of connecting the ritual to the language. Above all, she has very strong ties to the Pasifika community through her Cook Island lineage and Tahitian bloodline. She believes we are all hybrid to an extent. Miss Kihi brings a whole new game of comedic charisma full of love & light and yet a real professional on stage and a true master of ceremonies.
