My name is Elkan Seaga. I was born and raised in Porirua, Wellington. My parents come from the villages of Lotofaga and Lauli’i in Samoa. I’m a proud husband and father who values faith and family.
My journey started in the financial sector, which spanned over 8 years. I started off as a bank teller and moved into various roles, including Personal Banker, Home Lender, Premium Relationship Manager, and KiwiSaver advisor. I made the move to the public sector, working for a government agency in their Contact Centre as a Senior Relationship Advisor and was fortunate enough to do a Team Leader stint within the Contact Centre.
What attracted you to your current role in Ringa Hora? What are your responsibilities?
My decision to join Ringa Hora was driven by a deep-seated desire for positive change. As a father, I am constantly mindful of the future my son will inherit, and I am committed to being a part of the change that will make it better for him. At Ringa Hora, I aim to make a meaningful impact in vocational education that will benefit our future generations. My role involves engaging with Contact Centres, Industry Support, and Financial & Advisory sectors across the motu. I focus on establishing and nurturing relationships, and having authentic conversations about the challenges and opportunities they see for their sector.
What role can Ringa Hora play in making the industry better? What achievements of Ringa Hora are you most proud of?
The role of Ringa Hora in engaging with broader businesses within our industries, including small, medium, and large businesses, has made a positive impact. They all have different challenges and potential solutions, so it’s great we can hear the voices of all and create a workforce with the right skills.
Reflecting on Ringa Hora’s achievements over the past 3 years, it’s hard to single out one. What I am particularly proud of is the collective effort that has made these achievements possible. It’s the shared drive and commitment of the staff at Ringa Hora, along with our industry partners, that have been instrumental in our success.
