Pacific Transformation

Empowering Pacific success within the Service sector

Ringa Hora ensures the vocational education system meets industry needs and gives a stronger voice to Pacific business within the Service sector.

We provide opportunities for Pacific businesses and workers to connect, relate, and grow through a variety of talanoa and events. These are part of our process to identify the needs of the Service sector as we work with industry across projects to create and influence positive change. A key focus of our work is developing methods of increasing access and reducing barriers for priority learners to empower and assist them in realising their potential through training and employment.

We acknowledge all who shared their time, valuable input, experiences and industry knowledge with our team to shape a brighter future for the Service sector.

Ringa Hora Workforce Development Council will be disestablished on 31 December 2025 as part of the Government’s changes to the vocational education and training (VET) system.

From 1 January 2026, our functions, including work with Pacific peoples, will transition to the new Industry Skills Boards (ISBs). The industries previously covered by Ringa Hora will move to three different ISBs:

Our website will remain live for two years to ensure continued access to our reports, insights, research, and resources. Please note that qualification development and assurance information will be available on the new ISB websites.

Kele'a

Kele'a celebrates and acknowledges the valuable contribution of Pacific peoples to the Service sector in Aotearoa. It also serves as a call to action for service industry stakeholders, training providers, learners, and Pacific communities to explore ways to further amplify and build on these contributions.

We Be Who We See

“We Be Who We See” is a captivating initiative designed to honour and share the incredible stories of those thriving in our service industries. This project shines a spotlight on the achievements of Pacific, Māori, and Tangata Whaikaha individuals, aiming to inspire and encourage others to follow in their footsteps.

Hidden Gems

The Service sector workforce in Aotearoa is a hidden gem, often overlooked yet vital to society’s everyday functioning. These workers, who span a wide range of services, are the unsung heroes who frequently make daily experiences seamless, pleasant, and efficient without receiving the recognition they deserve. Their contributions are essential to the fabric of daily life.
