“Piki, eke, te mutunga he aiō – No matter the ups and downs of life, in the end all shall be resolved”
Ben joined Ringa Hora because of its vision and kaupapa and what Ringa Hora aspires to achieve for the betterment of Aotearoa. Ben feels that our kaimahi are at the heart of the organisation, and the quality of what we do is due to the values, skills and commitment of our people. He has learnt so much from the kaimahi and is excited to be a part of the Ringa Hora journey.
Ben’s main passion is Te reo Māori and tikanga as it pertains to his people. This passion has guided Ben in his professional career where his roles have primarily been underpinned by Mātauranga Māori, including te reo Māori education publishing organisations, tertiary providers and government education entities, and post-treaty settlement trusts.
Ben is from Waikanae and is affiliated to Te Āti Awa. He was raised in the Wellington region for much of his life, and now resides in Te Awamutu. Ben is married to Mania and they have two sons, Te Rongomau and Te Waiaruhe. He enjoys sports and fitness, and regularly runs and exercises at the gym. He can be found regularly frequenting the RSA with whānau and friends to watch rugby.
