Development of a qualification for Professional Legal Studies Course

Development of a qualification for Professional Legal Studies Course

Ringa Hora Services Workforce Development Council is commencing a development of a national qualification of the Professional Legal Studies Course (PLSC), to be available on the New Zealand Qualifications and Credentials Framework (NZQCF).

At the moment, the PLSC programmes lead to an award of a micro-credential which will be discontinued in 2024 so by developing a qualification, this will enable a smooth transition from existing programmes. We are not reviewing the NZCLE Regulations associated with the PLSC.

Timeframe

We propose the development to take place during August and November to:

  • develop a qualification for the PLSC that is useful, and relevant to the sector
  • register of the qualification on the New Zealand Qualification and Credentials Framework (NZQCF).

Development meeting with expert writing group (4hrs)

A development writing workshop will be conducted via 4-hour face-to-face meeting on the 28th August 2023 in Auckland, venue TBC. Once drafted, Ringa Hora seek further information to refine the qualification, consult on the draft and seek sector support before submission to the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA). Feel free to contact [email protected] for further information about the development process.

We are seeking expressions of interest to be involved in the project to:

  • provide technical expertise into the development of the qualification
  • provide critique during the development of the qualification
  • communicate progress to their networks and obtain feedback and communicate this to Ringa Hora Services Workforce Development Council
  • endorse the developed qualification.

Once the expert writing group have drafted the qualification, we intend to run an online drop-in session to seek sector feedback on the draft.

Your participation in this review is invited

Please forward your expression of interest to be involved with the expert writing group and/or consultation support network for the development to [email protected] by 21st August 2023.

We are happy to add people to our email network at any time. If you wish to be included in the email network or have any feedback or questions, please email [email protected]

Please note that participants are expected to cover their own costs of attending any of the meetings. Ringa Hora will cover costs of meeting venue and catering.
